ABOUT
Community Coffee and Tea is a nonprofit café in Bellaire, Ohio, dedicated to bringing people together over delicious food and drinks. We serve freshly brewed coffee, espresso, teas, homemade sandwiches, soups, and baked goods, using quality ingredients sourced locally when possible. More than a café, we’re a welcoming space where everyone feels at home, with warm service and a commitment to faith, inclusivity, and community.
OUR STORY
Alyson and Chad Farmer were both born and raised in Bellaire, Ohio. Chad is a former U.S. Marine who served from 1994 to 1998 and later returned to the Valley, where he focused on raising a family. Alyson spent 22 years in education, teaching in both private and public schools across the country. During her career, she attended seminary school in Dallas, TX, before returning to the Ohio Valley to be closer to family and friends. After nearly 30 years apart, Chad and Alyson rekindled their friendship in 2019, and less than a year later, they were married! Today, they are a family of five, including their children: Nathan, Luke, and Carli.
Their shared faith and love for their community inspired them to start a business that would give back to their hometown. In 2021, they began dreaming of opening Community Coffee as a way to help restore their town, grounded in their Christian beliefs. They were particularly inspired by this biblical passage:
"They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations."
Believing this passage reflected their mission to revitalize their community, they set out to turn their dream into reality. With the generous support of a private family who believed in their vision, they opened the doors of Community Coffee in October 2023. Today, their nonprofit café is dedicated to bringing people together in Bellaire, creating a space where neighbors can gather, connect, and grow!
